So, what's been going on?
Well during the period of non-publication we've had a few interesting enquiries, a few interesting jobs, a few fascinating incidents. First of all, on a personal note, I had a lucky escape. An enquiry from across the Irish sea for ?10,000.00 worth of catering equipment and refrigeration (including a pizza oven).
The man was in a hurry. I determined what equipment we had available and, in my usual fashion, we fired phone calls back and forth for a couple of hours, refining and honing the order. I insisted on a bank transfer before shipment and the man duly organised one (apparently). No money showed so the goods were not released for collection by his hauliers.
The pizza prep fridge, bain marie, gastronorm pans and everything else still sit palletized and pallet wrapped in our warehouse, like children in an orphanage at Christmas. Waiting for a home to go to. The money never arrived in our bank account and the phone is going straight to answering machine. Scary.
