The Leaning Tower of Pizza Oven Sales: Part 2: You Picks Yourself Up, Dusts Yourself Off...
The peculiar thing about this particular sale is that the man was calling me specifically due to my having sold a friend of his the same oven a few weeks ago. Both men run businesses in the West End. Do you understand what that means? That means that Mr N from Ward's Catering's name is now synonomous with quality, value and good customer service in the pizza oven mileu in London Town's West End. Quite a thing I think you'll agree.
Anyway I rang the man back and informed him that it'd be at least 2 weeks for an oven and that if he was willing to wait that long I may be able to do something with the price. He remained cagey but interested... a smart fish this one, I would have to tread carefully. So after another phone call to my supplier to ascertain manufacture times, delivery dates, ports of entry I called him back. He had told me that he was opening his new business on Monday 7th December and wanted to train his staff on the LLKMAX4+4 before opening.
I said I could NOT get the oven to him before Tuesday 8th December. He said other companies had it in stock to which I replied (quite sincerely) that I would get it from them. Of course he then told me that he liked our prices. Of course he liked our prices, they are competitive to the point of madness! In the end he agreed to the delivery date and bought the oven. My supplier (who had previously berated me for my slipping sales rate) thanked me for the order and said that I had redeemed myself to some extent. I had a celebratory slice of pizza (leftover Scarborough Special for The Band), then two more. It's good to be back on top.
